From idea to £1.4 million ARR. Still our client a decade later.

The problem

Buying windows or doors should be simple. In practice, it was anything but. Sales teams spent hours pulling together manufacturer data to build a quote. Customers chose styles from brochures with no real sense of how they'd look on their home. Getting the wrong style is an expensive mistake, and the industry had no good way to prevent it.

Tommy Trinder's founder, Robert Franks, saw an opportunity to change the interface between salesman, customer, and supplier. He wanted a system that could link individual salespeople to manufacturer data in real time, generate quotes instantly, and show customers a 3D representation of the finished product overlaid on their actual home.

He needed a development partner who could build that from scratch and keep building as the business evolved.

What we built

Lamp took full ownership of the technical platform: architecture, API development, and infrastructure. The system needed to handle complex manufacturer data sets, real-time pricing, and 3D visualisation, all while being fast and reliable enough for a live sales environment.

This wasn't a one-off build. As TommyTrinder grew, the platform grew with it. New manufacturers, new product types, new features. The architecture we put in place in year one had to support a business that was changing shape constantly. That's why we designed it the way we did: to absorb change without breaking.

We've provided continuous technical oversight and DevOps throughout the partnership, keeping the platform stable and performant as the user base scaled from early adopters to an industry-wide tool used by hundreds of window and door companies.

The windows and doors industry was largely ignored by technology before TommyTrinder. The platform changed how the sector operates. Tommy Trinder's team describe it as a breakthrough for the industry, with two patents pending on the technology.

"It's been brilliant working with Lamp. They're flexible, experienced and very good at what they do. The diverse skill set in house was hugely helpful, meaning that the right person was able to help with the right issue."

Why this matters

TommyTrinder is the clearest example of how Lamp works. We didn't just deliver a product and move on. We built the technical foundation, stayed as the business scaled, and adapted the platform year after year as requirements changed in ways nobody could have predicted at the start.

A decade on, the system is still running, still growing, and still earning its place. That's what happens when you design for year three, not sprint three.
